However, Kyoko, an upperclassman with whom Ryoichi has a secret crush and with whom he has been trying to overcome his nighttime street phobia, goes looking for the “Memory Man” and forgets Ryoichi as well as his trauma. Ryoichi wonders if it is possible, but when he learns of other people around him who have unnaturally lost their memories, he begins to search for the truth. Ryoichi encounters people who wish to “erase their memories to protect what is important to them.” …… Is being able to erase “memories” really salvation? The shocking and sad ending will surely bring tears to your eyes. |
A word of advice:
I was so taken aback by the author’s other work, “Bouquet is Poison,” that I picked up this one in rapid succession. Like a flowing short story, but centered around a solid axis, the story progresses, and the shadow of the “memory shop” comes into view. Was it the right decision or…
