Weekday Noon Fuss

Todays Notion

On the last day of February, Tuesday afternoon, the 28th, there was a “boom-boom” impact sound. Even though I was working with noise-canceling headphones, I had a bad feeling about that sound I heard. To be sure, I checked the security camera monitor and found that a sedan car with a heavily damaged front end was in the midst of slowly fleeing in the direction of a residential complex.

My wife, who happened to be in the room, and I inspected the area and found large scratches near a utility pole and scattered parts gouged into the ground. Then we also found the perpetrator fleeing more slowly from the housing complex. My wife started running after them, so I started the engine of the light car used for shopping and dashed after them.

Soon after, the car that caused the accident became unable to run due to overheating caused by a damaged radiator, and we were able to subdue the criminal.

However, the culprit seemed to be beginning to suffer from dementia, and he was not aware that he had caused the accident, asking, “Where am I? He was an elderly man who did not seem to recognize that he had caused the accident.

Anyway, an accident is an accident, so we called the police, but all the while the culprit was slumped over in the driver’s seat and did not seem to understand what was happening at all.

If we had been away from home, we would have been in a panic because we did not know what had happened.

The police officer was also lecturing the culprit: don’t drive with your health in such a state that you don’t know what happened.
I am so glad that the pole did not fall down.
